World–renowned Japanese sculptor Mamoru Abe, who has been working with iron for over 40 years, presents a site-specific sculpture exhibition „LOCUS“ ,tailored to the space at AP Gallery. His works combine traditional metalworking techniques with a philosophical reflection on the relationship between matter and humanity.
Mamoru Abe’s sculptures are born from the interplay of physical action and flame. Heated, hammered, welded, and polished iron reflects the infinite potential of earthly matter. The creative process reveals a transformation akin to alchemy – an encounter between matter and the inner state of the human, in which the creative spirit materializes.
His sculptures act as active catalysts of transformation, encouraging the viewer to seek spiritual renewal through the play of matter and light. The sculptural forms here are not static – they gain new meanings in relation to the perspective of the observer’s gaze. Each work is a contemplative dialogue between human consciousness and material reality.
